Lvli007的MacBook到了，酷睿2 T7200。我的测试癖又发作了。
其实现在的处理器已经足够应付办公级的工作了，于是我很关心数字媒体的处理性能。
于是我从这里找到了这个，修改制成通用二进制程序，在他的MacBook和我的PowerBook上同时跑。结果呢，傅立叶变换和内积还说的过去，卷积方面则简直不是一个数量级别的——T7200 6.4亿指令/秒的均值对7447A 114亿指令/秒的均值。我还没有测试970MP。这个问题很久以前就在邮件列表上讨论过，见这里。
我想起苹果电脑以前那些广告。他们用PowerPC的时候就吹PowerPC快，用Intel了就说Intel好。这些广告其实同那些苹果迷所广为耻笑的微软的疯狂广告是没区别的。
我一直很奇怪那些苹果迷是怎么想的。苹果电脑公司之所以称『公司』，因其本质系商人。而我国有句老话，无商不奸。

Lvli007's MacBook is arrived with a Core 2 Duo T7200. Then I forced myself to make a benchmark on it.
The contemporary CPUs are fast enough to have office works done, so what I cared is the performance of digital media processing.
Then I found something here and made this a Universal Binary with minor changes. Running on both his MacBook and my PowerBook, the result shows T7200 is not bad on Fast Fourier Transform and Dot Product, but on Convolution… T7200's 0.64 GFlops average versus 7447A's 11.4 GFlops average. I didn't have this done on a 970MP. Of course it's not only me who finds this out, there's an old mail in mail list here.
This remainds me those advertisements of Apple computers. They said PowerPC is faster when they use PowerPC, and it's Intel now. This is nothing difference than those crazy advertisements of Microsoft products, which lots of Apple Fans have laught at.
I've been surprised that there're so many Apple Fans for a long while. Apple Computer Inc. is called incorporated, as they're merchants. There's a Chinese idiom, Every merchant is liar.

KFC in China 肯德基

我不是想评论KFC的『美食』，因为在我看来，快餐店根本不会有美食（参见便利店）。
正题是，这名字起得很有水准。
我很好奇这虾的得名，服务生说是因为长得像。但打开包装，看到那异常苗条的虾体，我不禁，大概也只能想赵飞燕。百胜的本地化做得……至少很下功夫。大概百胜内部有文化功底很深的员工在做命名。我还记得那个『大納言小豆』馅蛋挞的广告，狄人杰谏武媚娘。很可惜，观众没什么懂的，这次没做这类广告，可能是学乖了吧。
顺带一提，百胜还有东方既白这样的品牌。

I'm not going to talk about the taste. Fast foods can't be delicious, by my vision(See Convenient Store).
What I want to say is, this name, 飞燕虾, which stands for a kind of Xia(shrimp) named Feiyan(flying swallow), is Chinese, is good.
I wondered how they named this. The waiter said it looks like the swallow, but I don't think so. Feiyan is a famous beauty who was born in Han Dynasty and finally became a queen. The poor, little shrimp is as thin as her. Yum's L10N is good. I am thinking about, if there's someone in Yum have a great job on Chinese culture done.
BTW, Yum has 东方既白. It sells traditional Chinese food as fast as KFC.

Wind from Siberia 来自西伯利亚的风

今天是周末，窗外是零度，却仍然有那么多的人不得不披星戴月地工作。生活总是如此的艰辛，就像这西伯利亚来的风，长途跋涉又吹了这么久，才把这里搞舒服（虽然他舒服了我们就不那么舒服了）。

As a weekend, as the emprature goes by zero, as the moon still smiles. Many people have to wake up and go to work. Life is hard, somehow like the air from siberia, blowing so far and so long to make here comfortable(well, for him, not for us).

照片里没有诡异，书而已。人类不断地探索新知，却不知道什么是尽头——或许没有尽头。
我不是鼓吹消极论，人只要快乐就好。学而时习也很快乐。
可我又忍不住想说，这其实和我们所谓的『动物』没什么区别，当然他们吃、睡、讨老婆就很快乐了，我们还有些别的方法。

There's no strange, books only. People are interesting in learning, not what the end is. Maybe there isn't any "end".
Of course I'm not advocating negativism, I do think happy is the best thing in our lifes. Learning is happy.
Then I can't stop myself of writing: The only one thing else than the so called "animals" is, eat, sleep and make love satisfied most of them, but we get "meaningful" ways.

Problem with Baking Powder 发泡问题

今天一时兴起去吃吃油条，端上来却嗅到浓重的氨味。我知道这是用碳酸氢铵发的泡，大概没有完全分解就遇到了盘子里的水。硬着头皮吃了一根，结果是到现在都感到反酸。我宁可吃点铝，至少明矾发的口感要更脆，而且闻起来也不这么恐怖。
回来仔细研究下，发现不用铝也可以发泡。理论上讲，磷酸氢钙效果不错，而且至少应该比较脆，余下些对人体也没有太大毒性。
还有，这散发恐怖气味油条十分有名——真搞不懂为什么这么家大型企业，为了缩减成本就愣是不用点更安全更可口的？

I were going to eat fried bread sticks today, got a smell of ammonia. As I knew, it came from one of the ingredients, ammonia bicarbonate, which maybe not fully destructed and then dissolved in the water. As a result of tasting one, my stomach feels too much gastric acid till now. I'd say I prefer alum, it will resulting crisp ones at least, and will not smell so terrible.
Then I find out more without aluminium, such as Rumford Baking Powder, which uses calcium phosphate instead. Theoritically it
will be good, at least resulting crisp ones, with not so many toxic effects.
And, the fried bread sticks here are very famous, for their smelling. I wonder why such a huge company doesn't going to find something seems safer and more delicious out? Just for reducing the cost?

iBlackTea 爱红茶

i系列的第2款。爱红茶至少不像爱面那样不健康，甚至比那些高级餐厅里的红茶要好——根据我的观察，在那些地方以数百倍价钱买到的不过也是爱红茶，而且多数情况下还没有自己泡的美味。

Being the 2nd one in my iSeries, iBlackTea doesn't as unhealthy as iNoodle. Even more, this tastes better than those in cups, which sell hundreds more than this, in formal restaurants, because those in cups are what with i marks too, as I saw.

空调打开的时候，我明显嗅到了霉菌的味道。脑海中突然出现了一个镜头……病毒通过空调系统扩散，似乎是一个不错的桥段。

Convenient Store 便利店

有时候我会怀念起杂货铺。
因为在我们的世界中他们已经被便利店取代。
显然，便利店意味着完整的品质管理体系——意味着你可以在同样的招牌下用统一的价格买到一样的商品，不必担心过期，不必害怕上当受骗。店员都着制服，面带微笑，不会遇到怠慢，不会被当出气筒。
但他们是店员，不再是老板娘兼隔壁大妈，不再有闲聊说笑，不再有小礼品，也不再有哄小孩的糖果玩具。不再有一个又一个的故事。

『Instant Noodle』太土了，不如叫『iNoodle』更显时尚——还可以取个中文名『爱面』。其实速食面包含防腐剂、着色剂、工业纯度的食用油等多种『有效』成分，非常无益身心健康。但爱面却是我国新世纪学生的主食之一。

The name iNoodle seems more fashionable than Instant Noodle. Actually its ingredient including preservatives, colourants, oil etc. which are not good for anybody's healthy. Even though, none of chinese students in the new millennium can live without it.

It's going to snow in the north, but the endless rain still falls outside. I prefer sunshine in the winter, in recent days, at least.
